Join us for an Ice Cream Social and visit at Rosary Hill Home on June 3rd from 1:00 to approximately 2:30pm.  Rosary Hill is a nursing facility operated by the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne.  The home is dedicated to providing palliative care to persons with incurable cancer. The home was established in 1901 and provides free care for people who cannot afford to pay for it.  We will meet in a recreation room to serve and share ice cream “sundaes” with the patients. We may play cards, games or even a sing a-long depending on the energy level of the patients on June 3rd.  Visit www.rosaryhillhome.org for more information.

Please join the Lavinsky Family on May 20th from 2-4pm at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.  We will be helping the center with outdoor landscaping, followed by a special treat: meeting the wolves!!

Can’t believe it is MAY 1st today.  I guess spring is in full swing despite the cool temps and rain.  Anyway — the Mianus River Gorge clean up event is THIS Sunday — please get on the site and RSVP so that the McKenney’s will know how many of you are able to join in.  Last year’s event there was wonderful — it is a gorgeous place and the naturalist was great about educating and showing everyone around while they worked!

The ARC put a nice article up on their newsletter and web site about the Favors visit and gardening day along with some cute photos.

Repair the Exclosure Trail:  The Gorge has a 2 acre exclosure with a trail that runs through the entirety. During last October’s big storms, the trail took heavy damage.  I was hoping to enlist Westchester Favors in repairing it. This would require:

1) Clearing light vegetation and brush – manual removal, use of clippers, raking, possibly hand sawing by adults
2) Edging sections of trail – carrying logs to sections of trail. Staking in edging.

Families please bring pruning shears or clippers, rakes, and gloves.

Amazing transformation of the ARC house yesterday! We went from bare gardens to colorful, cheerful house in two hours. Thanks to everyone for getting dirty, sporting blisters from shoveling, and for getting a work out for a great cause. The men who live at the house really enjoyed the day and I think we made a big difference for them in making the house very pretty and cozy looking.
