Last note for Sunday at the ARC

We’re all set for Sunday — just wanted to send a reminder to please come in work clothes and bring shovels or trowels if you have them.

This event will be fine to show up for last minute if anyone wants to add on — you will just be asked to bring a flat of pansies or other colorful plant and a container to plant them in as punishment for not RSVP’ing.

See everyone then!

Gretchen

RSVP Reminder

Just a reminder to please RSVP for the event this Sunday — April 15 – at the Bedford ARC Residence,  1:00 – 3:00 pm.  We will be working alongside of the residents at an ARC house in Bedford.  We will be helping them plant items in their gardens and “spruce up” their yard. The house is directly across the street from the Bedford Shell Station on Route 22 (#287).

I went to visit today and they REALLY need our help — they just had to pull their septic and oil tanks and the place is barren and depressing looking — they really need a little color to help it out.  We will be planting a full bed on the front of the house and then also decorating and planting planters for them to put around the house.  Please bring trowels, shovels, gloves, etc if you have them.  If you have any plants or planters to donate, we wouldn’t turn them down either!

Thanks for the St. Patrick’s Day decorations

Thanks from the Pound Ridge Seniors group:

Please thank everyone in your group who made the special items for the Senior St. Pats lunch.  They loved it all – from the little pots of gold to the wall decorations and the pots of flowers.  They took the items home at the end and will enjoy them.  They loved the soup mix and were excited to try it out.
Thanks so much.

Westmoreland thanks!

Great work on the trails at Westmoreland today.  That was some nasty prickery business!  But a beautiful spring day none the less.

If you haven’t checked yourselves and your kids for ticks yet, please do — they were definitely out in full force.  Enjoy the next few weeks and the spring vacation — save the date for April 15th — Menzies to host — just as soon as they think of a perfect project….

A note from Westmoreland

Below is a note from Adam, who is arranging for the visit this weekend — see below for details — and if you haven’t already — RSVP here!

Looks like great weather this coming weekend.  We’ll be cleaning up the sugaring equipment and doing a check of the trail we use for our school groups.  For the trail check, we’ll be removing any fallen debris (fallen limbs, large sticks, etc) on the trail as well as cutting back any vegetation that has thorns on it.  If anyone wants to bring some hand pruners to cut back the thorny vegetation, that would be good to add to the couple we have available to borrow.  Wearing work gloves or gardening gloves would be good for trail clean-up as well.
Thank you,

Spring Schedule

As daylight savings approaches and you start to think of your spring schedule, and if (gasp) you haven’t checked out our calendar in a while, I thought it might help to email everyone our upcoming event dates so you can factor them into your own family’s schedule!

March 18 – Pucci/Sirot Family at Westmoreland Sanctuary — RSVP here ASAP please so they can plan activities accordingly.  This is NEXT weekend!
April 15th – Menzies (TBD).  Due to the way that the spring break falls this year and the Leatherman’s Loop race on April 22nd) — April’s event will be on April 15th.  I am working on an event — details coming soon, but hold the date.
May 6 – McKenney Family: Mianus River Gorge trail clean-up
May 20th — Lavinsky Family possibly, to be confirmed shortly
June 3rd – open date
June 17 – Year end pool party at Menzies!  We know it’s Father’s Day, but we welcome anyone who wants to celebrate with us in the afternoon.

If anyone has a burning desire to add a date or an event — please ask — we could always add to the calendar if you think of something!

Westmoreland Sanctuary: March 18, 2012

Join us on Sunday, March 18th, from 1 – 3pm for maple sap collecting and trail clearing. The Pucci/Sirot Family will be hosting this event at Westmoreland Sanctuary, 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco.

Depending on the weather, we may be helping to pull buckets and wash equipment for the Maple Sugaring. There’s also potential for some early spring landscape cleanup or trail cleanup. Dress to be outside for the afternoon. Bring gloves, clippers, etc if you have them handy for use on the trails. Hope you can make it. Westmoreland is very appreciative of our assistance in making the Sanctuary a wonderful place for families. For more on Westmoreland, visit www.westmorelandsanctuary.org

Thanks from the seniors!

There will be some lucky seniors enjoying jars of soup mix, tissue paper flowers, and other great goodies and decorations at the Pound Ridge Seniors St Patty’s Day luncheon this year thanks to another successful bit of Favors fun last Sunday.  Thanks to the Brotmanns for hosting and to the crafty kids who showed up and “got ‘er done” as they say.

Note for today

For those attending the event today — we have been told it is possible that it might be chilly at the site we are using…so bundle up if need be.

See you then!
